Creating a website that truly represents your business shouldn’t feel overwhelming or mysterious. At Blue House Creative Company, we’ve developed a transparent, collaborative website design process that takes you from initial inquiry to a beautifully launched website—with clarity and confidence every step of the way. Whether you’re starting from scratch, refreshing an existing site, or somewhere in between, understanding what to expect makes all the difference. So, here’s exactly how we transform your vision into a stunning online presence that converts visitors into customers.
It all starts with a 30-minute discovery call. Well, it really starts when you fill out the form to schedule that discovery call. What do we talk about on this call? First, we get to know each other! I want to know about you, your business, your website goals, and what your style is like. I want to understand what you want out of your website design. And this might be a little bold, but I’d think you want to know a little bit about me, right?
Here’s what else we’ll discuss on this call:
Once we’ve determined your website design needs, we’re ready to get started. Your proposal is signed, your deposit invoice is paid, and you’ve scheduled a project start date. Now it’s time to do some pre-design prep. This includes gathering your media like photos and videos. Additionally, you’ll write or hire a copywriter to create your website copy. You’ll also pick out a template for customization, complete a brand questionnaire, and gather any additional files or information needed before the project start date.
I typically book your start date at least one month from when I receive your proposal and deposit. This gives you time to gather your media, website copy, and any additional files.
Now it really gets exciting—your project start date is here! We’ve gathered the files and information we need to begin. On your project start date, we’ll have a kick-off call to review everything from the pre-design process. Then, we’ll talk through what happens next.
During this call, we’ll verify your website colors, fonts, logos, and any additional brand elements. I’ll begin the project with a moodboard, sitemap, and your foundational Showit design settings. Typically, your home page is the first page I design. Once I complete it, it lays the foundation for the remaining pages.
The length of time for a design project depends on various factors. However, custom-designed websites generally take the longest at 8-12 weeks. In contrast, template customization has the quickest turnaround at 2-4 weeks. Meanwhile, semi-custom designed websites fall between 3-8 weeks depending on your design needs.
Each project is unique. Ultimately, timelines depend on the number and complexity of your website pages, any added features, and any additional design elements.
Once I complete your website design, it’s time to launch. Based on what your proposal outlined, we’ll connect your domain and get you ready to go live. As part of your project, I offer one week of post-launch design support. This ensures that everything on your site links properly and looks great. It also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you have about your site. After one week and again at one month, I’ll complete a website audit. This helps ensure your site performs the way it should.
Your website is more than just an online brochure. It’s your hardest-working marketing asset, your 24/7 salesperson, and often the first impression potential clients have of your business. At Blue House Creative Company, our streamlined website design process removes the guesswork and stress. Instead, it replaces confusion with a clear roadmap from discovery call to launch day and beyond. With transparent timelines, collaborative touchpoints, and ongoing support, you’ll never feel lost in the process.
Ready to bring your vision to life? Let’s start with that discovery call and create a website that doesn’t just look beautiful, but works hard to grow your business.
